I’m Back Bitches! (Well, Sort Of…)

So, after a 4 month break (WTF?!?!) I’m back…but I have no idea whatsoever what to do with my domain. Not sure if I wanna keep blogging here, since I’m currently residing over at FWM™. Any thoughts or ideas? Cheers…

so…it pays to pay your bill…

sorry ya’ll. be back shortly.

I Heart Buddytown™

I only know now know you, but you have captured my heart. That is all.

Holy S***!!! Ben Folds Is My Hero!

This is DEFENITLEY one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long time! Here we have Ben Folds on an Austalian radio/TV program called jTV covering "Such Great Heights" by The Postal Service. It’s amazing because the whole thing is recorded live and on the spot. Wow! Kinda kicks Sam Beam’s (aka Iron & Wine) ass into the ground (;

Update: Ugh. For some reason I can’t embed the Youtube file, so here’s a link to the video. Sorry. Anyone know why I wouldn’t be able to embed btw??

Oh, and here’s the .mp3 of the performance in 192k glory!

Such Great Heights (Postal Service Cover) - Ben Folds

Unibaumer 2.0?

So yeah, I’ve laready gotten super bored with this whole grey-color-y-pink-and-blue look that’s going on on here right now. I’ve been workin on a new look. Tommorow you will see. Good things, good things. G’nite.

Wednesday Link Action…

Here’s some linkage for you (sorry if a couple are a little "saucy")…

BORAT! FREE! Tonight! - Just show up tonight at AMC Empire on 42nd Street. Doors open at 9PM…Admission is free with your printed out Myspace profile (but Borat has to be in your top 8, or 12, or 16 or whatever…) I’d just get there EARLY to get a place in line. Jagshemash!

Update: Apparently Borat may appear on the new issue of Vanity Fair. Guess we’ll have to wait and see (; Fingers-crossed.

You Design T-Shirts?? - Good. Purevolume wants some quality merch designers to bang out some tees for their new online store. Heed the warning. Make the cash.

Michel Gondry Interview - Ain’t It Cool News interviews with "The Science Of Sleep" director Michel Gondry.

Fortunately, I’m better than this! - Or maybe nobody reads this thing (more likely) and I just somehow flew under the radar.

Damien Rice’s new album - Apparently this guy DIDN’T fall off the face of God’s green earth. Due November 9th.

Zune at $249?! - I’ll believe it when I see it (…and there should be a LOT to see. Man, that thing needs to go on a little bit of a diet me thinks!)

Always for your iPod - Here’s an .mp4 video for the new The Album Leaf single "Always For You." Enjoy!

Sunset Rubdown playing Webster Hall this Sunday Night - Ya’ll know it’s my birthday Sunday, right?! (;

WTF?! - I never realized that conjoined twins could share THAT. Gimmie a break. Get a room.

And just in case you forgot, P. Diddy is a dickhead and apparently, Jack Nicholson is a dildo

You Hear It Last!

So I know that alot of people in the music press are gonna be a little "late to the party," but hey, better late than never, huh?! Anyways, with their blissful self-titled debut album FINALLY dropping on the 26th of this month (with a bonus EP!), apparently the Mute Math boys are stirring up a bit of a comotion in the mainstream music world because MTV’s You Here It First is covering the guys all week (starting today) and there’s a killer article on the website about them.

Let’s hope that they hit and sell 4 million records (; Here’s the schedule for when YHIF is airing…

The Envy Corps

So I came across The Envy Corps this morning in my daily blog readings (about the first half hour of my workday…shhh, don’t tell!) These guys are actually from Iowa and write some freakin’ CATCHY indie rock! Kind of sound what Mobius Band would sound like if you replaced all the electronic glitches with handclaps and harmonies. Anyways, apparently they’re in Russia (?!) recording their full-length debut, so maybe we’ll see it soon?? Hopefully??

Anyways, here’s a couple songs off of their newest EP, I Will Write You Love Letters if You Tell Me To (which someone can send me if they’d like causeI’m impatient and don’t want to wait a month to get it if I order it off of their website…c’mon guys, jump on the iTunes bandwagon…I don’t think it will ever catch on, but at least I’ll be able to buy your record online!)

Story Problem - The Envy Corps
Sylvia [the Beekeeper] - The Envy Corps
Rhinemaidens - The Envy Corps

Also, be sure to go say hello and be their friends on Myspace! Cheers.

*Thanks to Indie Don’t Dance for the heads up, yo!

Brooklyn Is Da New Queens…

So I’m finally getting around to throwing my housewarming party and having people over to my new diggs this weekend (It’s also my birthday too, btw…*wink, wink*) So if you’re in the NYC area this Sunday you should totally stop by and say hello! There will be lots of food, hanging and probably some music and football too, but who knows?! Hit me up if you need directions or whateva…Peace.

Oh, yeah…and yeah, I’m an idiot and didn’t realize that Run DMC was from Queens before I made this poster. So watever jerks.

Free Derek Webb

Sorry that I’m still so busy and haven’t been able to update regularly and daily. I promise next week is going to lighten up and I’ll be able to get back to this. I need to fix some code issues with the blog too, so if things look a little sloppy I do apologize. Anyways…on with the post!

Those of you who are familiar with Derek Webb and know me personally will know how big of a hero DW is to me, both personally and spiritually. Anyways, Derek’s newest record, Mockingbird, is a PHENOMENAL album that masks a sharp, biting political and socio-religious message with pleasent progressive folk rock. Much more accesible musically than his previous records, Mockingbird really pushes, nay, SHOVES and ACCOSTS you towards introspection of your own faith (if you’ve got it) and the state of the church, government and world. So here’s the good news…I’m not just going to TELL you how great a record it is, I’m gonna help you find out for yourself!

Head over to freederekwebb.com and you can fill out a simple form to recieve a digital download of the entire record for FREE! So why’s he giving it away free you ask? Well, here’s what he has to say about it…

i love music. i have grown up with music as a close confidant. and i believe in the power of music to move people. there’s something remarkable about the way a melody can soften someone to a new idea.

as an artist (and often an agitator), this is something i am keenly aware of. my most recent record ‘mockingbird’ deals with many sensitive issues including poverty, war, and the basic ethics by which we live and deal with others. but i found that music has been an exceptional means by which to get this potentially difficult conversation going. and this is certainly an important moment for dialogue amongst people who disagree about how to best love and take care of people, to get into the nuances of the issues.

one of the things that excites me most about the future of our business is how easy it is becoming to deliver music to people who want to hear it. i heard a story once about keith green caring so much that people were able to hear and engage with his music that he gave it away for free, which was a very difficult and expensive thing to do at that time. it’s actually never been as simple as it is today to connect music with music fans. and i want people to have a chance to listen to mockingbird and engage in the conversation.

so this is why, on september 1st, we’re launching freederekwebb.com, a place where anyone can go online and not just hear but actually download, keep, and share ‘mockingbird’ completely for free. In addition, freederekwebb.com will give you an opportunity to invite your friends to download ‘mockingbird’ in order to get them in on the conversation as well.

we hope this bold campaign will provide a jumping off point for conversations about all of these issues, and communicate my commitment to playing my part in starting them. so please help us spread the word: on september 1st, ‘mockingbird’ will be set free!
